A beautifully detailed Chaffinch, captured in a simple, timeless composition using my distinctive jigsaw printing technique.
The lino is hand-carved into separate pieces, with each section individually inked before being carefully brought together and printed as one image. This creates subtle layers of colour, texture and character within the bird, while retaining the lovely, slightly imperfect quality of a handmade print.
With its delicate markings and distinctive shape, the Chaffinch is one of those familiar British garden birds that is always a pleasure to spot.
